Demand the Immediate Release of Billions in K-12 Funding
The Trump administration’s Education Department is blocking the distribution of nearly $7 billion in congressionally-approved k-12 program funding. Normally the Education Department grants state educational agencies access to federal funding by July 1, allowing states to fund critical summer programs and plan for the coming school year. This year, however, the Department has withheld funds without justification, leaving programs facing critical funding shortfalls and creating chaos for schools and families. Meanwhile, Office of Management and Budget director Russell Vought is threatening to claw back these congressionally-approved funds permanently.
Services affected by the funding impoundment include:
After-school and summer programming, particularly for children in underserved and low-performing schools
A program to help children of migrant farmworkers succeed academically and graduate from high school
A professional development program for educators
Language acquisition programming for non-English speaking children
A program to improve school conditions and access to classroom technology. The withheld grant dollars constitute 10% or more of all states’ and territories’ total federal K-12 funding.
America’s children, families, and educators deserve better. Urge Congress and state attorneys general to demand the immediate release of these impounded and essential funds.
Script:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [Your City].
I'm calling to urge [Senator Moreno/Husted /Representative Balderson] to act to secure the immediate release of the billions in K-12 school funding currently held hostage by the Education Department. Congress has already approved these federal funds, and blocking their disbursement is both unconstitutional and harmful to America's children.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Oppose HB 42: Requiring certain agencies to collect and report citizenship data
HB 42 would require agencies, including all state and local law enforcement, the Department Rehabilitation and Correction, the Department of Education and Workforce, all public schools, and county Departments of Job and Family Services, to collect and report data concerning the citizenship or immigration status of persons with whom they come into contact. Failure to accurately collect and report this information would result in withholding state funds and grants. HB 42 places burdensome and costly reporting requirements on these agencies. This bill would also intimidate lawfully present immigrants from seeking services from these agencies.

Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [YOUR CITY].
I’m calling to urge Representative Thaddeus Clagett to oppose House Bill 42, currently in the Government Oversight Committee. This bill would place burdensome and costly reporting requirements on local law enforcement and public service agencies. It would also intimidate lawfully present immigrants from seeking services from local law enforcement and these agencies.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Demand restoration of funding for NPR and PBS
On July 17th our Senators and congressman voted yes as the Senate and House both approved the Trump administration’s effort to starve local National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations by rescinding $1.1 billion in funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the entity that disburses funding to public media organizations and local stations throughout the U.S. While this amount is a small percentage of the overall budgets of NPR and PBS, most of this federal funding goes to local member stations to keep news departments afloat and to allow them to be able to produce local programming.
These funding cuts, spearheaded by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, are part of a larger effort to dismantle the nation’s public broadcasting system and suppress truth and freedom of the press.
The 1000 or so NPR-affiliated stations and 336 local PBS stations were budgeted by Congress to receive about a half-billion dollars in public funding in 2025 and also in 2026, which accounts for less than 1/100th of a percent of the federal budget.
Ninety-eight percent of Americans live within range of one of the more than 1000 public radio stations, which provide important local news coverage at a time when such coverage is declining on mainstream media. In addition, in some rural areas that have limited broadband access, many NPR stations are the only source of emergency bulletins and in some areas are the only sources of news at all.
Demand that Congress restore this funding.

HB 233 and SB 153 would require Ohio voters to provide proof of citizenship such as an Ohio or other state driver’s license, state ID card, birth certificate, passport, certificate of naturalization, and proof of name change (marriage certificate or court order). It specifically creates an additional burden on married women to provide proof of any name change. This requirement also places an extra burden on elderly, lower income, and younger voters who may not have easy access to the required documents. These changes are aimed at addressing almost non-existent voter fraud in our state.
Script: Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [YOUR CITY].
I’m calling to urge [Representative Kevin MIller/Representative Thaddeus Claggett/Senator Tim Schaffer] to oppose HB 233 and SB 153 currently pending in the House and Senate General Government committees. These bills would create new proof of citizenship and proof of name change requirements that would disproportionately burden married women who have changed their names, as well as elderly, lower income, and younger Ohio voters who may not have easy access to the required documents. These changes are aimed at addressing almost non-existent voter fraud in our state and are unnecessary.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
