Demand an extension of the Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTC) for those purchasing health insurance through the ACA
WE ARE HAVING AN IMPACT!!!
We have made our voices heard, and now the House Republicans are introducing a bill that would extend the Advanced Premium Tax Credit for one year, which would push the matter until after the midterms.
The Advanced Premium Tax Credit (APTC) is a federal subsidy designed to help individuals and families with low to moderate incomes afford health insurance purchased through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Eligible individuals and families can choose to have a portion of their estimated premium tax credit paid in advance directly to their health insurance company each month, which reduces their out-of-pocket cost for monthly premiums.
The ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ allows the APTC to expire at the end of 2025. The result is that monthly premiums are projected to jump by more than 75% next year. For many people, that kind of increase could mean losing health care coverage altogether.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [Your City].
I'm calling to urge Representative Balderson to support the recently introduced legislation to extend the Advanced Premium Tax Credit, a federal subsidy designed to help individuals and families with low to moderate incomes afford health insurance purchased through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The APTC is currently set to expire at the end of 2025. If the APTC is allowed to expire, monthly health insurance premiums are projected to jump by more than 75%, and that could mean many families losing health care coverage altogether.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Demand That The Ohio General Assembly Create A Fair Congressional Map
KEEP THE PRESSURE ON! DON’T ACCEPT GERRYMANDERING!
Ohio is once again about to begin its congressional redistricting process. Congressional maps were drawn and approved twice over the last five years by Ohio leaders, but neither of the maps received the bipartisan support the state constitution requires to allow the maps to be used for 10 years.
On top of that, both maps were deemed unconstitutional by the Ohio Supreme Court, though that didn’t stop Republican leaders from leaving the most recently approved map in place and using it for the last election cycle. The map has a 66% Republican lean with 10 Republicans and five Democrats in the U.S. Congress, even though Ohio currently stands at a ratio of 55% Republican and 45% Democrat.
Demand that your state senator and representative support a fair congressional map, not the gerrymandered mess that we have now.

Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [YOUR CITY].
I’m calling to urge [Representative Kevin MIller/Representative Thaddeus Claggett/Senator Tim Schaffer] to support a fair congressional map that truly represents the people of Ohio and not the gerrymandered mess that we have now. The current map suppresses Ohioans' right to choose their representatives and further erodes our democracy.

Demand Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s Resignation
After only four weeks on the job, CDC Director Susan Monarez has been fired from her position for not rubber stamping the anti-scientific directives of RFK, Jr. Soon after her firing, four other senior CDC employees resigned from their leadership positions in protest, leaving the CDC in chaos and disorder. The public health of the United States is in grave danger under RFK, Jr. He must resign or be removed by impeachment.
Kennedy is a threat to scientific integrity, public health, and the lives of those served by HHS research and programs. Congress must hold him accountable for his careless statements and actions that are endangering the health and safety of every American.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from Newark.
I’m calling Representative Balderson to express my outrage over RFK, Jr.’s attacks on public health and essential scientific research. His dangerous proliferation of vaccine skepticism is putting countless lives at risk through public distrust and acts of violence. I demand that Representative Balderson move to impeach him as Secretary.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Bring Ohio National Guard Troops Home From Washington, D.C.
The Trump administration is again exploiting emergency powers, this time to take control of Washington, D.C. Under the guise of the city being “taken over by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals,” Trump has invoked section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, even though crime in D.C. is at a 30 year low. Using this rule, Trump is able to deploy the National Guard and federalize the D.C. police department to fight crime against “roving mobs of wild youth, drugged out maniacs and homeless people.” These unprecedented steps have no basis in reality and are another abuse of power by Trump and his administration.
Additionally, the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia has not asked for National Guard troops to be deployed, and Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser has spoken out against the deployment.
Toledo, Dayton, and Cleveland all had a higher crime rate than Washington,D.C., in 2024. However, Governor Mike DeWine has chosen to participate in this fake emergency by sending 150 Ohio National Guard Troops to D.C.
Script:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [YOUR CITY].
I’m calling to urge Governor DeWine to recall the Ohio National Guard troops deployed to Washington, D.C. The deployment of the National Guard should be reserved for situations in which the safety of citizens and the integrity of our nation are actually at risk. Crime in Washington, D.C., is not an emergency. Toledo, Dayton, and Cleveland all had a higher crime rate than Washington, D.C., in 2024.
It’s not too late for Gov. DeWine to cancel this ill-considered, legally problematic and unwarranted mission. This political theater has got to end. Our National Guard families and our soldiers deserve better.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Restore The 7 Elected Members To The State Teachers Retirement System (STRS)
In the very final stage of this year’s state budget process, the legislature’s Republican leadership inserted a proposal that changed the composition of the STRS Board. While the Board currently has seven members who are elected by the STRS membership and four appointed members, the new composition of the Board will be eight appointed members and only three elected members. This gives partisan politicians control over STRS and negates the voices and activism of STRS members.
In recent years, STRS members have elected board members who take both their fiduciary responsibility and their responsibility to STRS members very seriously. They have only restored benefits in situations approved by the fund’s actuary. They have also increased transparency at STRS, allowing members to have a clearer look at how their pension fund is being managed.
If we let politicians get away with seizing control of the STRS Board and the approximately $100 billion of STRS assets, next they’ll come for Ohio’s other public pension systems, like OPERS and SERS.
Tell your state legislators that educators deserve meaningfully-elected representation on the STRS Board. Tell them to introduce and pass legislation to restore the seven elected members to the STRS Board.
