Democratic Party Central Committee
List of Responsibilities

Be A Responsible Committee Member:

a) Vote in every election (as a Democrat of course).

b) Attend Central Committee meetings regularly each year.

c) Recommend poll workers for your precinct as needed.

d) Help people in your precinct become registered to vote as needed.

e) Help people receive a voter change of address in your precinct as needed.

f) Provide absentee ballot application forms in your precinct as needed.

g) Follow any duties prescribed by the Ohio Revised Code.

 

Support Democratic Party Activities:

a) Periodically attend fundraisers sponsored by the Democratic party.

b) Periodically volunteer to help the Democratic party with special events and activities.

c) Periodically attend Democratic workshops and conferences.

 

Support Democratic Candidates and Their Campaigns:

a) Carry petitions in your precinct for Democratic candidates.

b) Help candidates find yard sign locations in your precinct.

c) Walk your precinct with a friend or with candidates to distribute campaign materials.

d) Regularly attend fundraisers to benefit Democratic candidates.

e) Host a house party/coffee reception for a candidate.

f) Write letters to the newspaper editor that support Democratic positions and/or Democratic candidates.

 

Be An Active and Enthusiastic Democrat:

a) Be positive about Democrats. Be supportive of Democrats. We can be our own best friend or our own worst enemy.

b) Know why you are a Democrat. Know why you are involved in Democratic politics, and why you believe others should consider being involved too. People will ask.

c) Make an effort each election year to know the backgrounds, strengths, and qualifications of all Democratic candidates running for office.

d) Encourage your Democratic friends, neighbors, and family members to vote “early and often.”

e) Recruit Democrats in your precinct to help the party and its candidates. Bring them to a Democratic meeting. Introduce them to other Democrats.

f) Help find Democrats in vacant precincts who might be good Central Committee members.

g) Be on the lookout for Democrats who would be good candidates for elective office. Recommend them to the Democratic party chair.
